Our vision is that...
Through Investing for Health (IfH) published in November 2007, and updated in June 2008, we set out how health services in our region could build on the improvements already made during the previous ten years. It explains how the NHS in the West Midlands is planning for the future. Its focus is that in order to improve the health of our population, we need to move from a service that reacts to people’s health to one that identifies ill-health and intervenes early to treat illness and invest in preventative services.
Our vision for health services over the next five to ten years us that we will:
- Work with patients, staff, carers and partner organizations and the public to provide a service that ‘adds years to life and life to years’;
- Aim to achieve the levels of care comparable to the best in the world by transforming services from reacting to patients to being driven by them;
- Deliver patient-centred care of the highest quality and also a step-change toward greater management of population health and support people to manage their own health.
