Jo has recently returned from a secondment to the Department of Health, where she worked as Chief Adviser to the NHS Chief Executive Sir David Nicholson for four years. Prior to this she was a Director of PPI and Communications at Birmingham and Black Country SHA for four years. Her professional background is in policy development and advice, and during her time as Director of Health Policy at IPPR published several books on health policy and reform, before joining the Strategy Unit at the Department of Health.

Jo has returned to the West Midlands to support the SHA in the transition to the new system outlined in ‘Liberating the NHS’, ensuring that regional implementation is aligned with both local needs and national policy.
