WMPfIT is helping the NHS to change the way it works.
The West Midlands Programme for IT (WMPfIT) is working towards providing the NHS in the West Midlands with a joined up health system which will help us to look after patients more efficiently. We support our NHS colleagues in acute hospital trusts and Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) across the region to design, implement and use the new IT systems which will help to deliver better, safer and more connected care. Better information will lead to better health and care - for every patient.
What we do...
WMPfIT’s main activities include planning for the West Midlands, deployment support, service management, requirements and testing for future products, as well as benefits management support to organisations. This also takes into account primary care and care themes that span across organisations.
Up to January 2010, WMPfIT has deployed around a hundred different patient based systems in different organisations across the West Midlands. These include major systems such as patient administration systems; clinical systems, such as Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS), prison health and departmental systems.
We’re not all about IT!
There are lots of clinicians in the team and the majority of us have non-IT backgrounds.
