NHS West Midlands Strategic Health Authority (NHSWM) receives central funding from the Department of Health (DH) to commission healthcare related educational provision on behalf of the West Midlands region. This funding spans across both medical and non-medical education and training.
With such a significant amount of money being invested into education and training, NHSWM recognises the importance of reviewing and enhancing the quality of this provision to ensure that the student experience is continually enhanced, graduates are of higher calibre and in turn the quality of patient care increases.
In addition to the commissioning and quality assuring non-medical education and training with linked education providers (i.e. Universities and Further Education Colleges) NHSWM also houses the Postgraduate Medical Deanery which is responsible for the quality of education and training for all regional postgraduate medical trainees.
