NHS West Midlands has Learning and Development Agreements (LDA) in place with all 44 NHS Trusts in the Region. The LDA identifies common standards for all professional/non-professional individuals in training within a contractual framework. . The LDA covers the activity of all training that is commissioned by us for learning and training in a practice environment, irrespective of whether it is supported by funding. It also specifies the amount of funding allocated as part of the MPET arrangements covering undergraduate, postgraduate and non-medical education and training.
The main aim of the LDA is to ensure all training commissioned from practice providers:
- is formalised into a single agreement where previously contracts were in place for undergraduates, postgraduates and the non-medical workforce
- is of high quality
- is subject to performance management criteria
- is of sufficient quantity to deliver increased training numbers across the professions
- is raised in importance to become core business
- is encouraged to be innovative
- encourages collaboration among its partners
- facilitates the educators to support and deliver education within the practice setting
- delivers value for money where it is supported by funding
- can be reviewed in partnership at specified intervals
Each LDA consists of a contract, set of schedules and a finance schedule.
