The SHA employs a small number of staff who are required to be registered nurses as part of their role, as well as a number who choose to maintain their nursing registration. I can confirm that there are no SHA staff that fit the criteria above.

None. The 2% for 2011/12 has been returned to the PCTs and the SHA is not aware of any business cases which involved the Olympic Games.  We have not collected the 2012/13 allocation yet.

 For Funding requests for drugs with no cohort policy

 To ensure that funding requests for drugs for which there is no WMCDF cohort policy are processed as quickly as possible, clinicians are asked to submit an Individual Funding Request (IFR) to the relevant PCT. 

 Clinicians are also asked to submit a completed Cancer Drug Fund application form with the IFR so that the PCT can forward both forms to the WMCDF clinical panel for consideration if the IFR is declined by the PCT.

 Where the request is not for an identified individual, clinicians can also submit an application to the cancer drugs fund for development of a cohort  policy where the request is not clinically individual and there is a recognised cohort of partients who may also be eligible for the drug, without the need to submit an IFR to the relevant PCT.

The total cost of administration is £101,259 - equivalent to 0.5% of the fund and within guidelines.

Audit arrangements are currently being put in place with the post of Clinical Audit Manager out for recruitment. Any information held is compliant with Information Governance requirements and legislation.

We are unable to provide information on the numbers of applications by cancer type by month. Because of the small numbers of patients involved, we believe that there is a danger of patient confidentiality being compromised. We continue to regularly publish information on the total numbers of applications to the Cancer Drugs Fund, both approved and rejected, on our website.
